LASIK surgery is not for everyone. If LASIK is performed on a cornea that is too thin, best corrected visual acuity could be permanently decreased. Patients with myopia above -6.00 should consider Visian ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) as an alternative.
The ICL is a lens that is implanted between the iris and the natural lens of the eye and provides superb visual acuity. Refractive surgeons prefer the ICL over LASIK because of it's safety and effectiveness. The procedure typically costs twice as much as LASIK, but is well worth it.
